Marmoset

Marmoset is a Portland-based indie rock trio known for their jangly guitars and introspective lyrics, brewing up a distinctive Pacific Northwest sound since forming in the late 1990s. Fronted by Jilly Weiss' distinctive vocals and songwriting, the band (completed by Chris Sutton on bass and Pat Spurgeon on drums) crafts lo-fi gems that blend twee pop sweetness with post-punk edge, as heard in recent releases like the nostalgic "Doo Wop b/w She's Wearing Rings" and the swirling "Tea Tornado." Their DIY spirit remains strong through decades of evolution, from early collaborations with Elliott Smith to recent experimental tracks like "hiddenforbidden," always maintaining that signature balance of melancholic melody and raw energy that's made them cult favorites in the indie scene.
