Victoria Soames-Samek

Victoria Soames-Samek is a critically acclaimed international clarinetist known for her breathtaking technicality and musical integrity. Born to Czech and Hungarian parents, she studied at The Purcell School and later won a Foundation Scholarship. She is also a professor of clarinet and saxophone and has founded the specialist CD label Clarinet & Saxophone Classics. Soames-Samek has developed a unique approach to performance practice, combining creativity with scientific concepts, which she outlines in her "Organise-Prioritise-Commit" (OPC) method. This approach emphasizes a structured yet flexible framework for achieving consistent excellence in performance.

Her recent releases include a variety of classical and contemporary works, such as "Keeley: Ring & Other Works," "Joseph Horovitz: The Essential Collection," and several volumes of Thea Musgrave's chamber music for clarinet. Soames-Samek's performances are highly regarded for their dramatic flair and fluid musicality, making her a respected figure in the classical music scene.
