Samuel Blaser

Samuel Blaser is a contemporary trombonist born in 1981 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. He began playing the trombone at the age of nine and developed a diverse musical background, influenced by Swiss folk music, American R&B, and jazz. Blaser graduated from the local conservatory in 2002 and later pursued graduate studies at the Purchase College Conservatory of Music in New York. His career has been marked by collaborations with notable musicians such as Pierre Favre, John Hollenbeck, Gerry Hemingway, and Marc Ducret. Blaser has received significant recognition, including the 2019 "Prix du Musicien européen" from the Académie du Jazz in Paris and the 2021 Downbeat Magazine Critics Poll as "Rising Star Trombone." He has also founded his own label, Blaser Music, and has been involved in various musical projects that blend jazz with other genres.

Blaser's musical style is characterized by his technical fluency and versatility, allowing him to seamlessly blend classical and jazz traditions with experimental approaches.
