Hugo Race is a prolific Australian musician, singer-songwriter, and producer whose artistic career spans several decades and continents. Originating from Melbourne, his journey in music began in the early 1980s, and he quickly became known for his involvement with the critically acclaimed post-punk group The Wreckery, and as an initial member of Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds. Over time, Race has established a robust solo career and has also participated in a multitude of collaborative projects, showcasing his versatility and deep engagement with diverse musical genres ranging from raw blues to electronic and world music.

Race's body of work continually reflects his nomadic spirit and an enduring passion for musical exploration. In recent years, his projects have included "Dishee" and "John Lee Hooker's World Today," the latter of which sees him reinterpreting the blues legend's work through a contemporary lens. The collaborative effort "Long Distance Operators" with Belgian musician Catherine Graindorge showcases his ability to create atmospheric soundscapes, while "No But It's True" further emphasizes his reflective songwriting talents. His release "Between Hemispheres" can be seen as a testament to his ongoing dialogue with global sounds and his skill in bridging cultural and sonic divides. Hugo Race's dedication to his craft and boundary-pushing creativity ensures his place as a unique and respected figure in the international music scene.
