Stefano Maiorana

Stefano Maiorana is a renowned Italian musician specializing in early plucked-string instruments, particularly the theorbo and baroque guitar. Born in Rome, he studied classical guitar and lute at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory before advancing his skills with Paul O'Dette in theorbo and baroque guitar. Maiorana is celebrated for his captivating performances and recordings, which include albums like "Intavolatura" featuring Kapsberger's music and "Entre dos almas" with works by Santiago de Murcia. He is also a professor of lute and early plucked instruments at the Briccialdi Conservatory in Italy.

Maiorana's musical journey began with a passion for rock music, but he transitioned to classical guitar after being inspired by Andrés Segovia. His interest in early music grew from attending baroque ensemble rehearsals, leading him to explore the baroque guitar and theorbo.
