Helle Høyer Vedel is a Danish conductor, flutist, and educator born to Danish parents in Northern Germany in 1958. Growing up in a musical family, she dedicated her career to choral music, notably leading the Aarhus Girls Choir to multiple international victories, including Champion of the World Choir Games (2014, 2018) and the Silver Rose Bowl at "Let the Peoples Sing" (2015). Her collaboration with Dutch choireographer Panda van Proosdij on movement-driven performances, such as the award-winning "Mother Maiden Mistress" (2019), highlights her innovative approach to blending vocals and physicality.
With over four decades at Aarhus Music School, she’s shaped youth choirs and lectured at institutions like the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, where she earned two Master’s degrees. Her work spans partnerships with composers, orchestras, and choirs globally, solidifying her reputation as a leading figure in Scandinavian choral music.
