Enya

Enya, born Eithne Pádraigín Ní Bhraonáin on May 17, 1961, in Gweedore, County Donegal, Ireland, is a singular force in music, known for her ethereal sound that blends elements of Celtic melodies, New Age serenity, and sophisticated pop landscapes. Her career began when she joined her family's Celtic band Clannad in 1980 before embarking on a solo journey that would lead her to international acclaim. Enya's music is characterized by its use of lush, layered vocals, a multitude of instruments, and an impeccable production style, thanks in large part to her long-term collaborators, producer and arranger Nicky Ryan and his wife, lyricist Roma Ryan.

Since the release of her eponymous debut album in 1987, Enya has built a discography of timeless records that have both defined and transcended the New Age genre. Among her recent works are "Dark Sky Island," her eighth studio album released in 2015, which continued to captivate listeners with its rich tapestries of sound and her enchanting voice. The album, along with its deluxe version, showcases her continued evolution and steadfast dedication to her artistic vision. Enya's seasonal album "And Winter Came..." and the evocative single "Trains and Winter Rains" further testament to her ability to conjure vivid imagery and emotional landscapes through her music. Her influence and legacy are further cemented by continued appreciation and remastering of earlier work, like the 2008 remaster of "As Baile" and the 2009 remaster of "Eclipse," as well as adaptations like "Shore, Ryan, Enya, Ryan: May it be (Arr. M. Sheeran)," reinforcing her status as a cherished and enduring icon in the world of music.
