Pascal Pinon is an Icelandic musical duo formed in Reykjavik, consisting of twin sisters Ásthildur and Jófríður Ákadóttir. They began their musical journey in their early teens, deftly weaving together the minimalistic threads of indie folk with a dreamy, lo-fi aesthetic. Named after a Mexican two-headed circus performer, the sisters mirror the duality of their namesake in their collaboration, mixing their voices and instruments to create a singular, enchanting sound.
The band's debut self-titled album, "Pascal Pinon," served as a charming introduction to their intimate and heartfelt songwriting. Progressing with a deeper and more refined exploration of their unique sound, Pascal Pinon released "Twosomeness" in 2013, an album that further solidified their place within the indie music world with its blend of delicate melodies and whimsical storytelling. Their 2016 album "Sundur," which translates to "apart" in Icelandic, reflects the duo's experiences of growing up and sometimes growing apart, while still retaining the close-knit harmony that characterizes their music. Through their lyrics, they often address themes of youth, identity, and the complexities of human relationships, all enveloped in their soft, ethereal musical style. "Party Wolves" and "I Wrote A Song" offer additional glimpses into their artistry, showcasing their ability to evoke emotion and craft poignant musical moments.
