Jurassic 5

Jurassic 5 is an American alternative hip-hop group known for its dynamic blend of old-school hip-hop elements with a modern twist. Formed in 1993, the group initially consisted of two separate acts, Rebels of Rhythm and Unity Committee, which merged after performing together at a concert. The original lineup included rappers Chali 2na, Akil, Zaakir, and Marc 7even, along with DJs Cut Chemist and DJ Nu-Mark. Jurassic 5 quickly gained recognition for its focus on positive, socially conscious lyrics, intricate harmonies, and the DJs' exceptional turntable skills, setting them apart in the hip-hop scene of the late ‘90s and early 2000s.

Their debut self-titled EP, "Jurassic 5" released in 1997, catapulted them into the spotlight, leading to the release of their critically acclaimed full-length album, "Quality Control," in 2000. This was followed by “Power In Numbers” in 2002 and “Feedback” in 2006, showcasing their evolution in sound and continued commitment to lyrical excellence. Despite a brief disbandment in 2007, Jurassic 5 reunited in 2013 to the delight of fans worldwide, demonstrating their timeless appeal and enduring influence on the hip-hop genre. Their music, characterized by catchy beats, thoughtful rhymes, and a unifying spirit, has left an indelible mark on the landscape of alternative hip-hop, cementing their legacy as pioneers in the genre.
