The Pussycat Dolls, an American girl group founded in Los Angeles, California, originally emerged as a burlesque troupe founded by choreographer Robin Antin in 1995. Transcending their vaudeville-style roots, the ensemble reinvented itself into a music group in 2003 with members Nicole Scherzinger, Carmit Bachar, Ashley Roberts, Jessica Sutta, Melody Thornton, and Kimberly Wyatt. Over the years, the line-up would see changes, with Bachar departing in 2008 and other members finally pursuing their solo careers after the group's hiatus in 2010.
The Pussycat Dolls shot to global fame with their hit single "Don't Cha" in 2005, off their debut album "PCD," which carved out their unique niche in the music industry with a blend of pop, R&B, and dance influences. Their provocative style and catchy tunes quickly became their signature, leading to a successful follow-up album, "Doll Domination," in 2008. The album bolstered their reputation with hit singles like "I Hate This Part" and "When I Grow Up," and a collaboration with A. R. Rahman on "Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny)" for the film "Slumdog Millionaire." Despite an initial disbandment, the allure of The Pussycat Dolls proved enduring as they reunited in 2019, releasing new music such as the single "React" and reimagining past hits for new audiences with remixes, signaling a revamped chapter for the iconic ensemble.
