Hey Monday is an American rock band from West Palm Beach, Florida, formed in 2008. The band hit the ground running with their debut album "Hold On Tight," released in October of that year. Fronted by lead vocalist Cassadee Pope, whose powerful vocals and dynamic stage presence catapulted the band into the spotlight, Hey Monday became known for their pop punk and emo pop influenced sound. Rounding out the band were Mike Gentile on lead guitar, Alex Lipshaw on rhythm guitar, Jersey Moriarty on bass, and Elliot James on drums, who was later replaced by Patrick McKenzie.
The band's follow-up releases, such as the EP "Beneath It All" in 2010, showcased a maturity in their sound and songwriting, while singles like "I Don't Wanna Dance" kept their energetic pop punk spirit alive. "Candles," another hit from "Beneath It All," gained further recognition when it was covered on the television show "Glee," introducing the band's music to a broader audience. In December 2011, Hey Monday went on hiatus while Pope pursued a solo career, which included winning "The Voice" in 2012. Despite the break and Pope's individual success, the band's fans have remained loyal, still celebrating their festive "The Christmas EP" and holding on to the hope of a potential reunion.
