The Concordia Choir

The Concordia Choir is an illustrious choral ensemble hailing from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. Founded in 1919, the choir is one of the United States' premier a cappella choirs and is renowned for its seamless blend, clarion sound, and the profound emotional depths of its performances. Under the baton of their long-tenured conductor, René Clausen, who served from 1986 to 2020, and currently under the direction of Dr. Michael Culloton, The Concordia Choir continues to uphold an exceptional standard of choral excellence. The choir is an integral part of the college's rich musical tradition and is composed of about 72 undergraduate students who come from various academic disciplines but share a powerful dedication to the art of choral music.

With a repertoire that encompasses a wide variety of genres, The Concordia Choir has a particular affinity for complex sacred choral works, folk arrangements, and spirituals. Their numerous recordings underscore the depth and versatility of their artistry. Their most recent releases include a blend of classic choral compositions and contemporary pieces, each showcasing the choir's ability to navigate intricate harmonies and dynamic ranges. "Folk Songs, Spirituals, & Hymns" is a collection that pays homage to the timeless traditions of choral singing, while "The Worlds Above" and "High Flight" feature compositions that explore the sublime and spiritual aspects of the human experience through choral music. Each album is a testament to the choir's ongoing commitment to exploring the vast landscapes of choral music and sharing their passionate interpretations with audiences around the world.
