Synkopy 61

Synkopy 61 are a Czech rock band formed in Brno in 1961, originally under the name Synkopy. They're considered one of the pioneering bands of the Czech rock scene, known for their blend of psychedelic rock, progressive rock, and jazz influences. Over their long career, they've gone through several lineup changes and stylistic shifts, but their dedication to complex arrangements and experimental sounds has remained a constant. They gained significant popularity in the late 60s and early 70s, and despite periods of inactivity, they've continued to perform and release music, maintaining a dedicated following.

While they initially covered popular Western rock and R&B tracks, Synkopy 61 quickly developed their own distinctive sound, incorporating elements of Czech folk music and classical music into their compositions. Albums like *Formule I.* and *Xantipa* showcase their progressive leanings, while later releases demonstrate their continued evolution and experimentation. They're a band with a rich history and a catalog that rewards deep dives, offering a fascinating glimpse into the evolution of Czech rock music.
