Eek-A-Mouse

Eek-A-Mouse is a pioneering Jamaican reggae artist known for his distinctive vocal style and playful, sing-song delivery. Born Ripton Joseph Hylton in Kingston, Jamaica, he rose to prominence in the early 1980s with hits like “Wa-Do-Dem” and “Ganja Smuggling.” His unique approach to deejaying, which involved a mix of rhythmic chanting, melodic singing, and whimsical vocalizations (including his trademark "biddly bong bong" sounds), set him apart in the dancehall scene and earned him international acclaim.

Blending traditional roots reggae with elements of early dancehall, Eek-A-Mouse became one of the first reggae artists to break into the American and European markets. He’s known not only for his musical innovation but also for his humorous and theatrical stage presence.
