Vicentico Valdés

Vicentico Valdés, born in Havana, Cuba in 1921, was a celebrated Cuban singer who became one of the most distinguished voices of Latin music in the mid-20th century. His full name was Víctor Vicente Valdés Valdés, and as a master of the romantic ballad and bolero, he earned widespread acclaim across Latin America and within the Latino communities in the United States. Vicentico's suave baritone lent itself beautifully to the passionate and emotive style of his chosen genres, capturing the hearts of audiences who were enchanted by the depth and warmth of his vocal expression.

Beginning his career in the early 1940s with the Orquesta Casino de la Playa, Valdés later became the lead singer for the renowned group, La Sonora Matancera.
