Max Roach Quintet was a jazz group led by drummer Max Roach. The group was formed in 1954 and featured some of the most talented jazz musicians of the era, including Clifford Brown, Sonny Rollins, and Kenny Dorham. The Quintet's music was characterized by its hard-bop style, which combined elements of bebop and swing. The group released several classic albums, including "Clifford Brown and Max Roach" (1954) and "Max Roach + 4" (1956). The Quintet disbanded in 1959, but Roach continued to lead other groups and perform as a solo artist until his death in 2007.
