Oblio Joes

Oblio Joes proudly claim the title of Missoula’s longest-running original rock band, having brought their indie rock sound to Montana since 1993—often referred to affectionately as “The Obes” by fans. The lineup has included musicians like John Brownell, Dan Strachan, Stu Simonson, Ian Smith, John Fleming, and Tor Dahl, all of whom have contributed to the band’s quirky, downbeat folk-rock and college indie rock style that’s left its mark on Missoula’s music scene. Their discography is extensive, with numerous albums and live releases, and their music continues to reflect the band’s deep roots in both local culture and indie rock experimentation.

Their sound and presence have made them a staple at local venues and on college radio, and their releases—such as “Lo!” and “Let’s Decompose and Enjoy Assembling!”—showcase a blend of thoughtful lyrics and memorable melodies that define the Oblio Joes experience.
