Steffen Tast

Steffen Tast is a Berlin-born conductor and violinist, born in 1965. He studied violin at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” Berlin, graduating in 1987, and subsequently became a member of the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin (Radio Symphony Orchestra Berlin). His passion for contemporary music led him to join the Kammerensemble Neue Musik Berlin, a chamber ensemble dedicated to new music. Over the years, Tast has increasingly focused on conducting, leading ensembles such as the Kammerensemble Neue Musik Berlin, Ensemble Oriol, Kammerakademie Potsdam, Ensemble Modern, and Ensemble Ascolta Stuttgart. Since 2005, he has regularly conducted chamber orchestra concerts featuring members and the academy of the RSB and has been active in family and school concerts. He is also a mentor in the orchestra academy of the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin. Additionally, Tast is a founding musical director of the "Dorf macht Oper" ("Village makes opera") project in his home village Klein Leppin, Brandenburg.
