Watkins Family Hour

Watkins Family Hour is an eclectic musical collective led by siblings Sara and Sean Watkins, who first rose to fame as two-thirds of the progressive bluegrass group Nickel Creek. The Watkins Family Hour began as a monthly residency at the intimate venue of Largo in Los Angeles, known for its all-star lineups and collaborative spirit among musicians. It became a cherished gathering place for a community of artists to experiment and play together, showcasing a variety of genres from folk to jazz to classic country.

With an emphasis on spontaneous creativity and collaborative synergy, the Watkins siblings released their self-titled debut album, "Watkins Family Hour," in 2015, capturing the essence of their dynamic live shows. Successive releases, including "Brother Sister" and "Vol. II," reflect their growth in artistry and refinement in merging storytelling with melody. The tracks "Pitseleh," "(Remember Me) I'm the One Who Loves You," and "Hypnotized" underscore their talent for poignant interpretations, while "Fake Badge, Real Gun" and "Just Another Reason" showcase their original songwriting chops. Their music is characterized by tight harmonies, masterful instrumentation, and an ever-present familial warmth that invites listeners into their musical world.
