¡Cubanismo!

¡Cubanismo! is a fiery and exuberant musical ensemble embodying the rich and diverse soundscape of Cuban music. The group was founded in 1995 by the virtuoso trumpeter Jesús Alemañy, who emerged from the esteemed Cuban music scene at the tender age of fifteen when he joined Sierra Maestra, a group dedicated to the Cuban son tradition. Alemañy's extensive expertise in Afro-Cuban music and jazz found a new voice through ¡Cubanismo!, which became known for its explosive and dance-inducing fusion of traditional Cuban rhythms with a contemporary edge.

The band gained international acclaim with their eponymous debut, "Jesús Alemañy's ¡Cubanismo!", which showcased a bold mix of son, salsa, rumba, and other Latin music styles. Through subsequent albums like "Mardi Gras Mambo - ¡Cubanismo! In New Orleans," which featured guest artists such as John Boutté and The Yockamo All-Stars, they explored musical dialogues between Cuban sounds and other cultures, thus enriching global appreciation for Cuban music. With their live performances captured in releases like "Cubanismo! En Vivo En Europa (Live In Europe)," ¡Cubanismo! continues to affirm their place as vanguards of the modern Cuban music movement, while "Greetings from Havana" and "Malembe" bolster their reputation, weaving intricate melodies and rhythms that honor the past while charging into the future. Their music is a testament to the vibrant artistic spirit of Cuba and its enduring cultural impact across borders.
