Jody Watley

Jody Watley is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and pioneering trendsetter in music, fashion, and style. She first came to prominence as a member of the soul/funk band Shalamar in the late 1970s and early 1980s, before breaking out as a solo artist. Watley's self-titled debut album was released in 1987, and it instantly established her as a force in the pop and R&B scenes thanks to hits such as "Looking for a New Love," "Don't You Want Me," and "Real Love." Her distinct sound, coupled with her chic image, won her a Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 1988.

Her recent releases showcase her versatility and willingness to experiment with different genres and sounds. The soulful "Christmas Time is Here" and the dance-inspired "Photographs" are just some examples of her diverse musical palette. With "Renderings: The Alex Di Ciò Remixes," she offered fresh takes on her music, reaffirming her status as an artist who keeps in touch with contemporary trends while never losing the essence of her signature style. In addition to her music career, Watley is also recognized as a style icon and continues to inspire with her timeless allure and ongoing contributions to the entertainment industry.
