Spirit Caravan

Spirit Caravan emerged in the late 1990s as a significant force in the stoner rock scene, marrying heavy, psychedelic riffs with the characteristic grit of doom metal. Founded by the influential and respected guitarist and vocalist Scott "Wino" Weinrich—known widely for his work with The Obsessed, Saint Vitus, and later The Hidden Hand—Spirit Caravan carved out its own niche in the pantheon of heavy music. With Wino at the helm, alongside drummer Gary Isom and bassist Dave Sherman, the trio's chemistry was palpable, combining muscular musicianship with a soulful, almost mystical approach to songwriting.

Their 1999 debut full-length album "Jug Fulla Sun" struck a chord with fans of the genre, showcasing an evocative blend of thunderous riffs and melodic sensibilities. The EP "Dreamwheel" followed later that year, further solidifying their sound and cementing their status amongst peers. With each subsequent release, including 2001's "Elusive Truth" and the comprehensive 2003 double-disc retrospective "The Last Embrace," which collected many of the band's recorded works along with a smattering of unreleased tracks and alternate takes, Spirit Caravan not only contributed to the legacy of doom metal but also left an indelible mark on the broader rock landscape of the early 21st century before eventually parting ways. Their music remains a testament to the enduring allure of heavy, hypnotic rock 'n' roll.
