I Am Blip is a Glasgow-based electro/techno producer and live act. He is known for his lo-fi electronica style, which often features a gritty, less polished sound that resonates with audiences. I Am Blip, whose real name is Andrew McManus, developed his musical skills during his teens by experimenting with sampling and sequencing software. He further honed his craft while studying audio technology at university, where he invested in a Korg EMX1, a machine that remains central to his live performances. McManus prefers performing with hardware, enjoying the unique sound it produces and the transparency of his live setup, which involves sequencing everything live without relying on laptops. His music career includes notable performances, such as supporting Shy Child at The Arches and playing nearly 20 live sets in 2007.
