Het Goede Doel

Het Goede Doel is a Dutch pop group that gained prominence in the 1980s. The band was formed in 1979 in Utrecht, The Netherlands, by Henk Westbroek (vocals) and Henk Temming (keyboards), who were previously members of the band Polysix. With a style that blended catchy pop rock with a touch of new wave, Het Goede Doel became known for their clever lyrics and socially conscious themes, often laced with a touch of irony.

The group experienced its peak success in the early to mid-1980s with hits such as "België (Is Er Leven Op Pluto?...)", a song exploring the idea of escaping to neighboring Belgium, and "Vriendschap", a poignant song about friendship. After initially disbanding in the 1990s, Westbroek and Temming have periodically reunited for tours and new releases. Albums like "Mooi En Onverslijtbaar" and "Gekkenwerk" show the group's ability to adapt their sound and remain relevant, while live albums such as "Het Beste van Het Goede Doel (Live)" capture the enduring energy of their performances. Through their decades-spanning career, Het Goede Doel has held a mirror to Dutch culture, offering thoughtful commentary wrapped in memorable pop tunes.
