Eugene Albulescu

Eugene Albulescu is an award-winning international pianist, conductor, composer, multimedia artist, and educator known for his passionate and powerful performances. Born in Romania, he began his piano studies at age six at the George Enescu Music School in Bucharest before his family moved to New Zealand in 1984. Albulescu emerged on the global stage in 1994 with his debut album "Albulescu Plays Liszt," which won the prestigious International Grand Prix du Disque Liszt, an accolade shared by legendary pianists like Brendel and Horowitz. He has since performed on four continents, including notable venues such as Carnegie Hall and the White House, and conducted major orchestras including the Romanian National Philharmonic and the New Zealand Symphony.

A Steinway Artist, Albulescu combines blazing technique with deep musical expression, and he also serves as a music faculty member and artistic director at Lehigh University. His diverse career spans solo recitals, concerto performances, and conducting engagements, alongside multimedia and original composition projects. His recordings appear on labels like Naxos and ODE/BMG, and he is celebrated for his artistic integrity and powerful presence both at the piano and on the podium.
