La Centifolia

La Centifolia is a vibrant Baroque ensemble founded in 2019 by Swiss violinist Leila Schayegh, named after a lush, fragrant rose variety with a hundred petals—perfect for capturing the exuberant bloom of early to late Baroque music. Schayegh pulled together like-minded friends, including violinists like Eva Saladin and others, plus harpsichordists, theorbo players, and cellists, to dive into chamber music projects close to her heart, often performing as a trio but expanding for special programs like Handel's tenor arias with Christoph Prégardien.

They burst onto the scene with a debut at the Potsdam Sanssouci Music Festival, followed by gigs at the Heinrich Schütz Music Festival, Bayreuth's Margravial Opera House, and spots lined up at Konzerthaus Wien, Thüringer Bachwochen, Schleswig-Holstein Musikfestival, and London's Wigmore Hall. Their first album, *Ciaccona!* (2023 on Glossa), spotlighted chaconnes by Purcell, Pachelbel, Corelli, and more obscure gems, earning rave reviews for its spirited take—recently followed by Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber's *Rosary Sonatas*.
