Dudu de Morro Agudo is a multifaceted Brazilian artist known primarily as a rapper, educator, cultural producer, music producer, and writer. He hails from the Morro Agudo community in Nova Iguaçu, Rio de Janeiro, and has been a powerful voice representing life in the urban periphery through his music and educational work. Since releasing his first EP in 1999, Dudu has built a significant career marked by socially conscious lyrics that address inequality, violence, resistance, and hope. His 2010 solo album "Rolo Compressor" launched tours across Europe and South America, and in 2013, he won a world hip-hop championship in Miami with his group. His 2018 album "O Dever Me Chama" solidified his reputation for sharp, poetic, and sarcastic verses, earning him a spot on the Rock In Rio stage in 2019.
Beyond music, Dudu is deeply involved in hip-hop education and youth empowerment. He created the RapLab model of hip-hop education, using music as a tool to enhance literacy and self-expression among young people, especially in marginalized communities. He also serves as a PhD student in Education, furthering his dedication to combining cultural work with academic research.
