Achelous

Achelous is a Greek heavy metal band known for their epic style, hailing from Athens. The band was initially conceived by Chris Achelous in 2011 as a solo project with a focus on extreme and atmospheric metal. Over time, it evolved into a full-fledged band with the addition of Chris Kappas on vocals, among other members. This transformation led to a shift towards a more traditional heavy metal sound with epic elements. Achelous has released several notable albums and EPs, including "Macedon," "The Cold Winds of Olympus," "Northern Winds," and more recently, "The Icewind Chronicles." Their music often explores conceptual themes, such as historical figures and fantasy narratives, showcasing a unique blend of melody and storytelling.

The band's name is inspired by the ancient Greek river god Achelous, reflecting Chris Achelous' heritage from Thessaly. Achelous has gained recognition for their energetic live performances and contributions to the vibrant Greek metal scene. Their discography includes a range of releases that have been well-received by fans and critics alike, solidifying their position in the epic heavy metal genre.
