Jean-Baptiste Dupont is a distinguished French organist and improviser born in 1979, known for his impressive international career and deep engagement with organ music spanning from the Renaissance to contemporary works. He began his musical journey on the piano and discovered the organ at age 12, pursuing advanced studies at the Institute of Sacred Music of Toulouse and the Toulouse Conservatoire, where he graduated with distinction. Dupont has studied with renowned teachers such as Michel Bouvard, Louis Robilliard, and Philippe Lefebvre. He has given over 600 recitals across Europe, the USA, and Russia, and is celebrated for both his performances and his skill in organ improvisation, notably winning the first prize in improvisation at the prestigious St Albans International Organ Competition in 2009.
Since April 2012, Dupont has been the titular organist of the grand organs at Bordeaux Cathedral, where he also co-founded the association Cathedra to promote organ music and artistry. His discography includes a notable project recording the complete organ works of Max Reger. Dupont is recognized as one of the leading organ improvisers of his generation and regularly participates in masterclasses, competitions, and cross-disciplinary performances, further enriching the organ music scene internationally.
