Born in Camagüey, Cuba, Enrique studied at the National School of Art and comes from a family of musicians, including his father Nené Alvarez and brother Adalberto Alvarez. The band is celebrated for its dynamic performances and unique blend of traditional Cuban rhythms with modern salsa elements. Over the years, Charanga Latina has released numerous albums and has toured extensively across Europe, Africa, and Latin America, sharing stages with notable artists like Alfredo de la Fe and Oscar D'León.
