Dorel Fodoreanu

Dorel Fodoreanu is a distinguished Romanian cellist, known for his accomplished solo and chamber music career. He is a founding member of the Enesco Quartet and was principal cellist of the Georges Enesco Philharmonic Orchestra in Romania. Fodoreanu earned First Prize at the National Superior Conservatory of Music in Bucharest and later moved to Paris in 1979 to further his career. He was among the first Romanian artists invited to perform as a soloist with the Georges Enesco Philharmonic Orchestra after the Romanian Revolution. His accolades include First Prize at the Paris Chamber Music Competition, the Grand Prix du Disque awarded by the Académie Française du Disque with the Enesco Quartet, and the Mihail Jora Prize in 1990. Fodoreanu has also held principal cello positions with the Barcelona Orchestra and the Arturo Toscanini Philharmonic of Parma and is active as an international juror and master class instructor around the world.
