K Dot is the early stage name of Kendrick Lamar, the acclaimed rapper, songwriter, and record producer from Compton, California. Growing up in a tough neighborhood, Kendrick began crafting rhymes as a young teenager and first released music under the name K. Dot, including his debut mixtape *Youngest Head Nigga in Charge* in 2003. His sharp lyrical skills and storytelling quickly caught the attention of Top Dawg Entertainment, where he was signed and eventually dropped more mixtapes like *Training Day* and *C4*. Later, he transitioned to using his real name and rose to fame with albums like *good kid, m.A.A.d city*, solidifying his place as one of hip-hop’s most influential voices.
