Zither-Manä, born Manfred Zick on March 6, 1947, in Munich, is a renowned Bavarian zither player and former vocational school teacher. He began playing the zither at age nine and later added guitar to his repertoire. Zither-Manä's musical journey spans from traditional folk to a unique blend of rock and blues, often featuring an electronically amplified and distorted zither sound. His career took a pivotal turn in 1980 when he began experimenting with rock influences, leading to his first solo concert at the Liederbühne Robinson in Munich. He collaborated extensively with bassist H.H. Babe (Hartmut Hotzel) from 1988 until 2007, after which he continued as a solo artist. Zither-Manä has received several awards, including the "Goldene Zither" in 2012 for his contributions to the zither's evolution.
