Her's was an emerging British indie pop duo, consisting of Stephen Fitzpatrick from Barrow-in-Furness and Audun Laading from Kristiansand in Norway, known for their dreamy and quirky take on the indie genre. Both met while studying music at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts and quickly bonded over a shared love for peculiar, sardonic humor and a broad range of musical influences spanning from 80s pop to surf rock. Their musical journey began in earnest with the release of "Songs of Hers," a compilation of their early tracks, which set the tone for their lo-fi aesthetic and whimsical lyricism.
The duo carved out a distinct niche in the music scene with their delightfully oddball sound, characterized by catchy melodies and inventive basslines that underpinned Fitzpatrick’s evocative vocals. Their debut album, "Invitation to Her’s," released in 2018, was a showcase of their ability to craft songs that are as infectious as they are eccentric, with numbers like "Love on the Line (Call Now)" and "Low Beam" highlighting their talent for blending humor with heartfelt sentiment. Tragically, the band's bright future was cut short when both members, along with their tour manager, were killed in a car accident while touring in the United States in 2019. Despite their brief career, Her's left behind a discography that continues to resonate with fans and secures their legacy as a unique voice in indie music.
