Peter Ritzen

Peter Ritzen is a Flemish pianist, composer, and conductor born on January 21, 1956, in Ghent, Belgium. He's a versatile musician who's made a name for himself in the classical music world, particularly as an interpreter of Franz Liszt and Theodor Leschetizky. Ritzen's musical journey has taken him across Europe, Asia, and the US, where he's performed as a soloist with numerous orchestras.

What's really cool about Ritzen is his connection to Chinese culture. He's composed a whole bunch of China-related pieces and even transcribed Chinese folk songs and movie themes. Ritzen's also got a knack for improvisation, which he showcases in his concerts. In recent years, he's been busy conducting the Vienna-based New Cosmos Philharmonic and serving as the artistic director of the New Cosmos International Music Festival. Oh, and did we mention he was knighted in 2018? Yep, he's now an Officer in the Order of Leopold, thanks to his contributions to music.
