Woolworthy

Woolworthy is a power-pop/punk band from Chicago, Illinois, best known for their energetic, riff-driven sound and heartfelt songwriting. The band was originally formed in 1995 by singer-songwriter Rudy Gonzalez and Rick Uncapher, drawing inspiration from influential acts like The Replacements, Goo Goo Dolls, Soul Asylum, and Superchunk. Woolworthy quickly became a staple in Chicago's independent music scene, releasing a series of raw and catchy albums such as "Electric Heartbreak," "Recycler," and "Blasted Into Ashes." Notable recent releases also include "Sweet Second Place," "Hand Grenade," and their self-titled album. Their music channels youthful exuberance with a touch of Midwestern sincerity, making them a favorite for fans of hook-laden, heartfelt rock.

After a period of activity from 1995 to around 2005, Woolworthy remained on the periphery of the Chicago scene, occasionally collaborating with other local musicians and reuniting for recordings—such as guitarist Dave Suh, who played in Woolworthy during his time with Caviar and joined them again for tracks on the "Electric Heartbreak" album in 2023. The band continues to share their music on platforms like Bandcamp, where fans can stream or download their six main releases.
