Modern Talking was a German pop music duo composed of vocalist Thomas Anders and producer, songwriter Dieter Bohlen. They emerged on the music scene in the early 1980s and quickly became a part of Europe's musical forefront with their distinctive brand of Eurodisco and synthpop. Known for catchy hooks and melodic sound laden with heavy use of synthesizers, the duo gained international acclaim with chart-topping hits such as "You're My Heart, You're My Soul" and "Cheri, Cheri Lady."
The band first split in 1987 but reunited in 1998 to a tumultuous welcome, releasing a series of albums that enjoyed significant commercial success. This second stint saw albums like "Back for Good" (1998), which served as a revival of their earlier hits with updated arrangements, and new material that resonated with fans both old and new. "Alone" (1999), "Year of the Dragon" (2000), "America" (2001), "Victory" (2002), and "Universe" (2003) continued to build on their legacy of synth-driven pop, cementing their status as icons of the Eurodance genre. "Last Exit to Brooklyn" was a single from the album "Victory," and "Win the Race" was the lead single from their eighth album, "America." Despite disbanding once again in 2003, their music experienced enduring popularity, leading to compilations like "Back for Gold" which was released in 2017, reaffirming their lasting impact on European pop music.
