**Koichi Shimizu** is a Japanese sound artist and composer based in Bangkok, Thailand, where he’s lived since 2003 after earlier stints in Thailand and New York. Born in 1972 in Kofu, Yamanashi, he studied sound engineering in New York during the early 1990s and later built a career composing for award-winning films like *Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives* (Palme d’Or, 2010) and *Nymph* (Dubai International Film Festival Best Composer, 2010). He runs the indie label SO::ON Dry FLOWER, supports experimental artists through his SOL art space, and blends commercial work (film/TV scores) with personal projects like electronic releases such as *Imprint* (2024) and *Demon State* (2022). His recent output explores ambient and experimental electronic textures while maintaining collaborations across multimedia installations and theater.
