Muramasa☆ (ムラマサ☆) is an eight-member Japanese indie ska/pop band that formed in December 2001. Known for their energetic blend of ska and pop, they quickly built a following through local shows and eventually signed with indie label Limited Records in 2005. Their debut single "SUMMER OF LOVE" and mini-album "サクラ舞い散る夜は" marked the beginning of their rise, followed by a national tour that included sold-out shows at prominent venues like Shibuya O-West. Their debut full album "twinkle" and subsequent releases like "HECTIC!!!!!!!!" further cemented their popularity, earning them an appearance on the music TV show HEY!HEY!HEY! and sold-out concerts at Shibuya CLUB QUATTRO. The band released several albums and singles between 2005 and 2009, including "Lifull," "WORLD," and a best-of compilation "ムラマサ☆ BEST." They officially disbanded in early 2009, just days before releasing their first greatest hits album. The group was recognized for its vibrant brass section and catchy, upbeat sound that combined pop melodies with ska rhythms.
