Willie "Loco" Alexander is a legendary figure in the Boston punk and rock scene. Born in 1943 to a Baptist preacher father and piano-playing mother, Alexander grew up in Gloucester, Massachusetts. He got his start in music playing drums and piano, influenced by early rock 'n' roll artists like Fats Domino and Little Richard.
Alexander's career spans over 50 years, including a brief stint with the Velvet Underground in 1971. He's best known for his work with the Boom Boom Band in the mid-1970s, when he developed his signature sound of fervent guitar-driven rock infused with a wild, elastic energy. Alexander has maintained a prolific artistic life, releasing numerous albums both solo and with various bands, including "Dog Bar Yacht Club" with the Boom Boom Band in 2006.
