Chris Donnelly

Chris Donnelly is a multifaceted musician known for his work as a jazz pianist and composer. He is an instructor at the University of Toronto and an associate composer at the Canadian Music Centre. Donnelly's music spans genres like jazz, ragtime, stride, gospel, improvisation, original compositions, and classical music. A notable aspect of his career includes being a member of the contemporary jazz trio Myriad3, known for their original music exploring improvisation and contemporary composition. One of his notable albums is "Solo," released in 2008, which earned him nominations for both Juno and National Jazz Awards. Another significant work is "Metamorphosis," released in 2011, a sprawling musical piece inspired by MC Escher's artwork. Donnelly is also recognized as a Steinway artist and has been nominated for two Juno Awards. In addition to his jazz career, he is involved in electronic music and sound design, contributing music to various video games.

Donnelly's musical journey began early; he started formal training at Humber College's Community Music School and later studied at The Royal Conservatory of Music and the University of Toronto, where he earned a Master's in Jazz Performance.
