The Invaders were a pioneering South African band formed in 1962 in Uitenhage. They started primarily as an instrumental group but later expanded to include vocals. The original lineup consisted of John Burke on bass, Errol Gobey on rhythm guitar and vocals, Desmond Solomon on lead guitar, Vernal Solomon on drums, and Ike Dolley on vocals. The Invaders gained popularity throughout South Africa in the 1960s and 1970s, becoming one of the country's most successful homegrown acts. They had several hit singles, including "June" and "Shockwave," and released albums like "Two Sides of The Invaders" and "Shockwave" in 1967.
