Renate Rohlfing is a highly accomplished pianist and music therapist known for her exquisite accompaniment and chamber music performances. A native of Honolulu, Hawaii, and a graduate of The Juilliard School, she has graced prestigious venues worldwide, including Carnegie Hall, London’s Wigmore Hall, and Amsterdam’s Muziekgebouw. She is recognized for her ability to "masterfully blend colors and craft lyrical, breathing phrases," earning her awards such as the Sonderpreis Klavier at the 2016 Internationaler Wettbewerb für Liedkunst Stuttgart and Second Prize at the Wigmore Hall Song Competition.
Beyond performing, Rohlfing is deeply committed to the intersection of music and public health. She holds advanced degrees in music therapy and psychology and serves as an Associate Professor at Berklee College of Music while practicing as a certified Nordoff-Robbins music therapist at New York University. She co-founded Sounds That Carry, a nonprofit focused on using music to support marginalized communities and enhance well-being. Her work explores music’s therapeutic impact on grief, anxiety, and neurodiverse populations, and she remains active internationally through performances and lectures.
