Timo Handschuh

Timo Handschuh is a German conductor born in 1975 in Lahr, nestled in the Western Black Forest region. A prodigy of sorts, he kicked off his musical journey at just 17 by starting his own orchestra right in his hometown, then honed his skills with a church music degree at Musikhochschule Stuttgart followed by conductor studies at Musikhochschule Freiburg, graduating cum laude in 2004—shoutout to inspiring teachers like Ludger Lohmann on organ and Scott Sandmeier for conducting.

He's worn many hats in the classical world, from musical assistant at Staatsoper Stuttgart under Manfred Honeck (leading over 100 performances) to general music director at Theater Ulm from 2011/2012, and artistic director/chief conductor of the Südwestdeutsches Kammerorchester Pforzheim starting in 2013. After a decade at Ulm, he stepped into new adventures in 2020/2021, and these days he's a Professor of Conducting at the Cologne University of Music and Dance since 2023, while dropping gems like the recent *Stamitz: Darmstädter Sinfonien* with his Pforzheim crew.
