Dick Rivers

Dick Rivers was a French rock and roll singer and actor, best known as one of the pioneers who brought American-style rock music to France in the late 1950s and 1960s. Born Hervé Forneri in 1945, he took the stage name "Dick Rivers" as a tribute to Elvis Presley’s character in the film Loving You. He first rose to fame as the lead singer for the group Les Chats Sauvages, one of France’s most important early rock bands. His smooth vocals and Elvis-inspired swagger helped him stand out in the "yé-yé" era of French pop.

After going solo in the early 1960s, Rivers enjoyed a long and varied career, recording numerous albums that blended rock, country, and French chanson influences. Known for hits like "Twist à Saint-Tropez" and his distinctive reinterpretations of classic American rock tunes, he remained a beloved figure in French music circles for decades. Rivers continued performing and recording into the 2000s, building a legacy as one of the key figures who helped shape the sound of French rock.
