Bastille

Bastille, an English pop rock band, emerged from the creative mind of singer-songwriter Dan Smith, who started the project as a solo endeavor in 2010. Named after Bastille Day, which coincides with Smith's birthday, the group quickly expanded to include Kyle Simmons (keyboards), Chris 'Woody' Wood (drums), and Will Farquarson (bass). Bastille made a resounding debut with their hit single "Pompeii," which was part of their first album "Bad Blood" in 2013—a release that propelled them onto the global stage. Their sound is characterized by melodic pop anthems, thematic songwriting often inspired by historical and literary references, and the distinctive combination of Smith's emotion-laden vocals with rich, textured electronic elements.

Since their inception, Bastille has maintained a consistent presence in the music scene, while continuously experimenting with their sound and taking on ambitious projects. They've received notable recognition, claiming the BRIT Award for British Breakthrough Act in 2014. Along with studio success, the band has an impressive live performance reputation, bringing a dynamic and interactive experience to audiences around the world. Their distinctive approach to engaging with fans has led to an assortment of releases that capture their live essence, such as the "MTV Unplugged" session featuring acoustic renditions of their hits. Celebrating a decade since their formation, Bastille commemorated with "Bad Blood X (10th Anniversary Edition)" and expanded their discography with tracks like "Pompeii MMXXIII," reaffirming their continued evolution and relevance in the music industry.
