Cortex

Cortex is a seminal French jazz-funk band primarily known for their profound influence on the genres of acid jazz, hip hop, and neo-soul. The group was founded in the 1970s by keyboardist and composer Alain Mion. Cortex's signature sound is characterized by Mion's deft keyboard work, backed by tight rhythmic grooves, rich horn sections, and resonant vocal harmonies that reflect a hybrid of jazz fusion and funk sensibilities, a sound encapsulated in their notable album "Troupeau Bleu" released in 1975.
