Rima Khcheich

Rima Khcheich, a Lebanese singer born in Khiam, South Lebanon, has built an illustrious career that bridges the realms of traditional Arabic music and contemporary jazz. With a deep-rooted passion for classical Arabic music, Rima has been studying and performing since the tender age of nine. Her dedication towards the art led her to the Lebanese National Higher Conservatory of Music, where she refined her technique and command over the intricacies of Arabic music's maqams (modal structures) and complex rhythmic cycles.

Throughout her career, Rima Khcheich has garnered acclaim for her exceptional ability to blend the rich heritage of Arabic classical tarab with modern sensitivities, a skill that shines brightly in her album "Muwashahat," where traditional Andalusian poetic forms are given new life. Her versatility as a vocalist is also evident in her live tribute "Min sihr ouyounak," where she honors the legendary Lebanese singer Sabah, adding her unique contemporary touch to classic repertoire. Khcheich's more recent work, such as "Falak" and "Yalalalli," showcases her continuous exploration of the fusion between oriental sounds and the improvisational elements of jazz, further establishing her as a transformative figure in the field of modern Arabic music. Her single "Ombre de mon amant" further demonstrates her ability to transcend cultural and linguistic barriers, whilst "Washwishni" affirms her deep connection with the emotional core of Arabic song. With a voice that is both expressive and technically exquisite, Rima Khcheich has become an influential force in bringing the beauty of traditional Arabic music to a global audience.
