Norbert Orth was a German tenor born on August 18, 1939, in Dortmund. Initially pursuing a career as an industrial merchant, he later turned to singing. Orth studied in Hamburg, Cologne, and Dortmund before making his debut in 1966 as Ferrando in *Così fan tutte* in Enschede. His career took him to notable roles at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf, Nürnberg, and eventually to the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, where he was a member for 20 years. He performed in numerous guest appearances around the world, including Paris, New York, and Tokyo, and was known for his performances at the Bayreuther Festspielen. Orth's repertoire included roles in operas like *Die Entführung aus dem Serail* and *Hoffmanns Erzählungen*, as well as oratorio and lieder singing. He passed away on August 27, 2023, shortly after his 84th birthday.
