The Moldy Peaches are a New York-based anti-folk duo formed by Adam Green and Kimya Dawson in the late 1990s. Known for their quirky, lo-fi sound and offbeat, often humorous lyrics, the band became a cult favorite in the indie music scene. Their self-titled debut album, released in 2001 on Rough Trade Records, showcased a mix of acoustic pop, punk influences, and playful irreverence that helped define the anti-folk genre.
Though The Moldy Peaches went on hiatus not long after their debut, their music saw renewed attention in 2007 when their song "Anyone Else But You" was featured prominently in the hit film Juno. Both Green and Dawson have pursued successful solo careers, but their brief time as The Moldy Peaches left a lasting impression on DIY music culture with its blend of sincerity, satire, and raw emotional charm.
